This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard¹ and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting².

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard³.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).

Methodology

All emissions quoted here have been calculated using the methods detailed within the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard¹. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for fuel and electricity consumption are based on energy bills. Where billing does not match the reporting period exactly, a figure for kWh used within the reporting period is calculated proportionally from the combined bill data within which the reporting period falls.

Location based Scope 1 and 2 emissions use conversion factors published by the UK government annually for the reporting year in question². Market based Scope 2 emissions use the energy supplier’s reported emissions intensity for the specific tariff applied to the reporting company or individual location. Scope 3 emissions have been calculated using a number of methods depending on the quality of data available. Where supplier emissions data are not available, a spend based method has been used to convert the amount spent in GBP into tCO₂e using an average emissions factor for the most relevant SIC code for that particular spend category.

Activity based methods are used where specific emissions factors are available for that particular activity, for example the emissions per mile of goods vehicle transport. These factors either come from the supplier themselves or from average data reported by the UK Government. Where suppliers have reported their own emissions (either Scopes 1 and 2 or Scopes 1, 2 and 3), and given an intensity ratio in terms of tCO₂e per GBP of revenue, the reporting company can apply this to the amount they have spent during the reporting period with that particular supplier to convert in to tCO₂e.
